This is following on from a conversation I was having with Mich and Pretzil at IMM. Something I have noticed with the Designer Decals.
On the White one the black lines only go up to the "designer" including the promotional picture outside the shop
However.. on the Black one, like in the sales brochure the white lines go past the "designer" to the very back....
Do you think it's supposed to be like that.. white and black different.. or something that has happened over time...
From what I can tell, as both the cars are in different advertisments, they were made differently... food for thought though..

I think it's more likely to be a glitch No special or Cooper has pinstripes all the way back past the main decal. Oh and the brochure black Designer does have a chrome Mini badge on it's bum!

Yup. They stop just at the edge of the decal.

From my vast and extensive sad anorak knowledge of Mini production (Oh god, have I read some books!!!! lol) I would say that the anomalies in decals and pinstriping would have resulted in either one or two ways..... 1) different week....different production....different guys working on the production line. Don't forget they were all applied manually and they weren't all done by exactly the same person! or 2) during a 20 year history it is inevitable there will have been some respraying on some cars over the years, and some spray jobs will be not so great whilst others will be good and hardly noticeable, but it is unlikely that even a good sprayer would get replacement after market decals put back in exactly the right place.
Pretz... your sunroof would not have been factory fit standard on the standard, but if it has been on the car since new, it would have had to have been requested as an extra from the dealer as an extra, and is likely that it would have been done in the bodyshop at the dealer prior to sale.
Also ALL designers were released from the factory with the "MINI" badge on the boot. On the black models they were chrome effect, on the white ones they were nimbus grey.
Hope you find this useful? Good to meet you all at Mini 50.
